We here at Gamer’s Dish have a new need. And that need is the Need for Speed. That’s right gamers, the developers of the Need for Speed series have set to release another installment of the Need For Speed Franchise with Need For Speed: The Run. This will be the 18^th installment in the franchise, and has definitely marked itself as being unique amongst the rest.

Black Box has been working on Need For Speed: The Run for roughly three years now, and we finally get to see why. You gamers probably remember the old Need For Speed games, where the driver wasn’t visible, and basically just racing from one track to the next. Well, this time around, take that concept and throw it right out the window. This game has been totally revamped, in a few ways.

First off, in this installment of the Need For Speed series, there is actually a story that was built around this game. Players will take on the role of the protagonist Jack, who has got himself into a fair amount of trouble, mostly with the mafia. A contact of his, Sam, informs him of a way to be able to make a little bit of “fast” cash. To do this, Jack must put his skills to work, his racing skills that is. The challenge of course is for him to drive across the country in a nationwide race from San Francisco to New York in an event called “The Run.” The reward for achieving first place in New York is $25 million. But of course, something like this doesn’t come easy. With the long arm of the law and the mafia to deal with on this nationwide adrenaline rush, Jack also has to overtake spots from the other 200 members of “The Run.”

Another great feature to this game, is that players aren’t just racing across from one developed track in the game to the next, what they’re actually doing this time is racing in actual areas in the United States! Gamers will be racing from areas like San Francisco, going through Chicago, and some of the other great places that have twists and turns along the way.

Need For Speed: The Run definitely has put a new twist on the racing series. We believe here at Gamer’s Dish that The Run will set a new mark in the Need For Speed series. We’re very excited to have a non-stop adrenaline race to the finish. Gear up for this one gamers!
