Starhawk-Open-Beta-Schedule

“There’s nothing like having a good blaster by your side.” – Han Solo. No, this isn’t Star Wars (unfortunately) but this is Starhawk. Starhawk is a third-person shooter, which basically plays like a battleground. Players will be able to drive across the battlefield, fly in spacecraft or fly in the mechs known as “Hawks.”

Starhawk

Now, there is at least one major difference with Starhawk compared to its spiritual predecessor Warhawk. The first notable difference is a single-player story mode, which is definitely good, so that players can get used to it. It just begs the question of, wouldn’t people fucking want a single-player anyway instead of pitting themselves in the action without a story? Anyway, back on to the topic at hand. Now, there is a new system that is in Starhawk called the “Build ‘n Battle” which allows players to build structures like bunkers, defenses, armories, all that kind of fun shit in battle. There is also a co-op mode similar to the Horde Mode from Gears of War, which is definitely a big plus.

So this takes place in the distant future, where humans are colonizing on other planets across the galaxy and are mining a valuable energy source called Rift Energy. But of course, there is always consequences to elements unknown and in this case, when humans are exposed to Rift Energy, they become savage mutants known as Outcasts. From what it seems, humans are now pitted against these Outcasts for control of their bases as well as the Rift Energy mines.

Taking all this into account, Starhawk does look like it’ll definitely be something worth picking up. You’ve got bitchin’ mechs, neato vehicles, and the battleground of humans against the Outcasts. What more can you want out of a game? Don’t be greedy bastards, but do be greedy for more news from here at Gamer’s Dish!

Hell Yeah Mechs!

Armored Core V

Armored Core V

No, this isn’t about the Transformers or any other shit like that, these mechs don’t come from a car and transform and have voices and everything BUT they are mechs, and it’s a relatively popular series. I speak of Armored Core V of course, the newest release in the Armored Core series.

From the videos and other coverage I’ve seen, they don’t really say too much about the storyline other than from the appearance that the world is at war again and it seems like the only thing that can save us is…well, giant mechs and the people that operate them. Unfortunately, not too much more has been released as far as the storyline goes.

So, you readers are probably asking, “If there’s no idea on what the storyline is, it doesn’t follow as a sequel to the other Armored Core games, then why the fuck do I want to play this?” I’ve got an easy answer for you, mechs that pummel the living hell out of each other. On top of that, they do offer a multiplayer for players over the Playstation Network or over Xbox Live. While yes, I’m not a huge mech fan, it’s a game that could be worth checking out at least. Stay tuned!
