A New Virus, A New Prototype
We remember when the Blacklight virus tore through New York like a ravaging wildfire and put the city to complete shit. That was thanks to Alex Mercer, of course in the original Prototype game. The virus created a quarantine zone in New York that created three zones. The Green Zone which is the safest area closest to where Ground Zero is from the virus. The Yellow Zone is the zone that has been quarantined and kind of is that cushion area between the Red and Green Zones.
Enter Prototype 2. Some type has actually passed since the first Prototype game. Sergeant James Heller returns home from his tour in Iraq only to find his wife and daughter dead from the Blacklight virus. Knowing that Alex Mercer was behind this, he now hunts Mercer to bring about revenge for his family. Heller has been transformed by the virus, giving him powers similar to that of Mercer. If hunting down a man as dangerous as Mercer isn’t enough of a challenge for James Heller, a group called Blackwatch, which appears to be a group of agents tasked to eradicate the virus are also after Heller and Mercer.
There are some familiar things and some new things in Prototype 2. Like Mercer did in the original Prototype, Heller can shapeshift and assume other people’s identities and memories by consuming them. One of the differences though is that Heller can sneak up on unsuspecting human enemies, inject the Blacklight virus in them and create a “BioBomb” essentially and use it to blow up objects, enemies, and all that fun shit. So with improved AI, Heller can use weapons in-game like ripping the cannon off the tank and using it, and there’s so much more cool shit in this game.
That being said, James Heller has got a hell of an agenda ahead of him, and it’s definitely not going to be an easy task. So gamers, navigate your way through New York and stop the virus and stop Mercer!
